Criteria for classifying companies in Latin America

There are different criteria for classifying companies . Some of the ones we can find in Latin American countries are:

Economic activity
It refers to the economic sector to which the activity carried out in the company belongs:

Primary: they are responsible for carrying out activities related to raw materials and their extraction, for example, agriculture and forest exploitation.
Secondary: They are generally responsible for transforming raw materials and goods into services that can reach the customer directly.

Legal constitution

Geographical scope
It refers to the reach that a company can have in the world.

Local companies: are those that serve a predetermined location, usually the place where the company was born.
Regional companies: are responsible for supplying the high demand for a product or service in specific regions or provinces of the country.
National companies: are businesses that have a presence throughout the Colombian territory.
International or multinational companies: they are responsible for offering their products and services in different parts of the world, but the center of operations is only in the country of origin.
Transnational companies : These not only sell in different countries, they also have multiple operations centers.
