What is World Water Week? This year’s World Water Week starts on the 1st of the month and lasts until the 3rd of the month. If you are new to Awareness Week then you may not know the issues it aims to highlight. Writing for the Children's Family Administration, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Dr. Lanique Howard Q. points out some things you may not know about water and Americans' access to water. First of all, more than 10,000 Americans do not know about water. No access to running water or indoor plumbing. Without clean running water these people cannot effectively flush food, clean homes, dispose of waste, or address personal hygiene issues.

In order to regain access to clean running water these people often have to pay off all unpaid bills and fines which is very expensive. Despite landmark federal aid programs willing to support these Americans, it remains inconceivable that illness, job loss, or other setbacks can lead to these life-changing circumstances.
