At WWDC17, where iOS11 was announced, ARKit, a new platform for developing apps that provide AR experiences on iPhones and iPads, was announced.
*AR stands for Augmented Reality, and refers to the technology that uses computers to extend the real-world environment that humans perceive, as well as employment database the real-world environment itself that has been extended by a computer.
Augmented reality is a variant of virtual reality (VR) that literally extends the real world as seen by humans by adding, deleting, emphasizing, or attenuating information in the real environment surrounding us at that time.
While virtual reality replaces reality with an artificially constructed reality, augmented reality is a technology that alters part of reality.
For example, in virtual reality, information is presented to a person using the five senses as if they were in a virtual room and looking at a virtual teapot placed on a virtual table, whereas in augmented reality, information is presented to a person as if a virtual teapot were placed on a table in the real room in which they are actually present (see Wikipedia).
This is Apple's official framework for creating AR apps, and with the release of ARKit, it will become easier than ever to develop AR apps for iOS.
It's still a little early to get started, but some apps using ARKit are starting to appear, so I'd like to introduce them to you.

Can be used for app development from iOS11?
