Geo-dependent and geo-independent queries

Post by subornaakter20 »

Usually in SEO optimization, when determining the geographic dependence of search queries, they are guided by the principle: if the search results are affected by the user's location, then this is a geo-dependent formulation; if not, then it is geo-independent.

Example 1. "Einstein short biography" is a geo-independent query, because the results are returned without reference to location: both a resident of Vladimir and a resident of Norilsk will journalist email list receive almost the same list of sites, since the data is of an informational nature.

Consequently, the same TOP (sites, portals, pages) will be formed for users from different regions, which contain information corresponding to the formulation. The described example is an informational geo-independent request: everyone needs data of a cognitive nature.

Example 2. Search words such as "weather", "news" or "traffic jams" are classified as geo-dependent because the results will include resources containing general information but tied to the user's location.

The system's algorithm determines the IP address or other signs of a person's presence in a specific region (for example, a city) and offers sites that contain information relevant to a given area, for example, weather/news in Rostov, Samara, Moscow (it all depends on the location of the access point).

Example 3. The phrase "call a taxi" is a location-dependent query of a commercial nature. Most likely, users interested in this information want to order a car to move around their city. Therefore, the search engine returns results oriented to the person's location.

Example 4. The phrase "buy an e-book (title)" is a geo-independent request of a commercial nature. Most digital goods, such as books, computer programs, music, etc., can be purchased/downloaded from a resource registered in any country. In this case, the user's region does not matter at all, so the search results will offer the same sites where you can get the work of interest for a certain fee.

How to check geo-dependent and geo-independent queries in SEO
In fact, if we follow the information presented above, each definition of geo-dependency of a request can contain several combined options.

For example, the search term "news" is informational in nature, and the results offer resources of regional and general significance. The TOP will consist of sites that publish reports of both the region and the country as a whole. A request related to the purchase of an electronic product is commercial, but can also lead to the formation of a combined search result. For example, the search phrase "buy Dr. WEB antivirus" will offer all the resources where you can buy this product (both the official website of the company and the pages of local computer stores).

In other words, the algorithms of the systems are based on a comprehensive approach, which implies that the user may be interested in more extensive data than regional services offer (or vice versa). Therefore, quite often the search results are formed according to a combined principle: local and federal resources. Thanks to this approach, people are given a good choice. Thus, it cannot be said about most search phrases that these are exclusively geo-dependent or geo-independent queries, since they form regional and general results, that is, they are combined.

When interpreting the concept of "geo-dependence of queries" one can rely not only on the criterion of geographic reference, but also on the user's interest (intent) to obtain information in a specific location. In this case, search results are formed according to a different principle.
