According to the 2022 Anti-Fraud Technology study conducted by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and based on a survey of nearly 900 fraud professionals worldwide, more and more organizations are harnessing the power of analytics to speed up transaction review and detect suspected fraud. Notably,:
reported a significant (14%) or slight (29%) increase in their use of data analytics during the pandemic.
Almost all respondents (98%) said that using data analytics helped them identify fraud faster and more accurately.
Unsurprisingly, the most represented industries in the survey were government and financial services. Banks have been at the forefront of fraud-fighting technology for decades, using advanced analytics to combat things like credit card fraud and money laundering. Strict compliance rules and a desire to avoid serious reputational risk, coupled with extensive resources, put them at the forefront of the fight against fraud.
At the same time, government agencies need to improve cambodia mobile database fraud prevention technologies and help combat this growing threat. Fraudsters often target government services, whether by overcharging for services or using stolen identities to file fraudulent tax returns or benefit claims.
This has been especially true during the pandemic. The aid programs quickly rolled out by governments around the world have proven attractive to fraudsters. In the U.S. alone, at least $163 billion in pandemic unemployment insurance may have been paid out improperly, much of it due to fraud. That’s a staggering amount.
