5 New Twitter Services You (Maybe) Missed October 15, 2013

It's now possible to schedule tweets directly on Twitter, up to a year in advance : the social network announced this yesterday on its corporate blog . But beware! This option is only available to advertisers . Everyone else will have to continue using a third-party application.
It's just one more in a string of new services that Twitter has been launching for weeks to (presumably) support its IPO , with which it hopes to raise $1 billion. Some are simply in the "experimental" phase. Others are still only available in certain countries, although expansion is planned.
1. New experimental account @eventparrot to communicate breaking news.
It was officially launched on October 10 and already has more than buy bulk sms service 32,000 followers, whom it notifies via direct message of breaking news. Right from the start, some criticized it for not reporting on the Nobel Peace Prize winner, despite having announced the Nobel Prize in Literature the day before. Just yesterday, it sent via direct message this tweet previously published by CNN Breaking News ( @cnnbrk ): “Obama, congressional leaders to meet at 3 pm ET amid efforts to end partial government shutdown.”

2. Watch and record TV shows without leaving Twitter.
Just by pressing the new "See It" button, thanks to an agreement with Comcast, as announced on October 9. All without having to turn on the TV or check the channel's website.
