Set a Strong Password: This is an additional password required after you receive the phone verification code. It protects against SIM swap attacks.
Set a Recovery Email: Crucially, link a secure email address (ideally with its own 2FA) to recover your 2FA password if you forget it.
Monitor Active Sessions:
Go to Settings > Devices (or Settings > Privacy and Security > Active Sessions).
Regularly review all logged-in devices and terminate any unfamiliar or suspicious sessions.
V. Changing Your Telegram Phone Number Safely
Telegram allows you to change your linked phone number without losing data.
Access Path: Settings > Tap on your current phone number > Change Number
Process:
Ensure you have access to both your old Telegram account (logged in) and your new, active phone number (can receive SMS/calls).
Follow the in-app prompts. Telegram will send a telegram number database verification code to your new number.
Result: All your chats, media, contacts, and settings will seamlessly transfer to the new number. Your User ID remains the same.
