Tinkoff supports research initiatives and develops project laboratories at Moscow State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Higher School of Economics and St. Petersburg State University. Students work in small groups to solve applied problems at the intersection of technology, business and science. In 2022, students implemented a total of 34 research projects in the laboratories.

In September 2023, it opened the Machine Learning Department at the Faculty of Computer Science of the Higher School of Economics (HSE). The department works in three areas: generative models of artificial intelligence (AI), Big Data and data processing, creation and support of infrastructure for big data. The head of the department is Pavel Voronin, First Vice President for Technology at MTS, and the teachers are leading specialists of the company with practical experience in the field of big data and deep machine learning. The program includes lectures on generative models of artificial intelligence, sound processing technologies, computer vision and other areas.
