This week, Alberto Cuervo, professor of the International Master's Degree in Business Administration and Management at Bureau Veritas University Center , talks to us about the evolution of work for digital nomads.
Nowadays, there is a topic that both companies and workers value more and more: teleworking. Thanks to new technologies, many tasks do not require the presence of the worker at their workplace.
The first question that always arises is: what is teleworking? It is a type of remote work, in a place other than the office.
So far, everything is very clear and simple, but there is actually something more. In the areas of business management, ICT has changed the way we work, optimising resources and helping people to be more line data productive. Borders, timetables or distances no longer matter, and more and more people aspire to teleworking as a way of reconciling their work and personal life.
The incorporation of ICT facilitates the completion of tasks and the execution of work, and, therefore, the Internet, smartphones, videoconferencing, and other tools allow us to:
Accessing databases
Transfer urgent documents
Attend virtual meetings
Provide/Receive all types of training
Today, a worker who needs to carry out an urgent task, which just a few years ago required his presence in the office due to the need to handle physical information (documentation, folders, filing cabinets, printers, etc.), has the option of being able to work remotely from anywhere thanks to new technologies.
But will this change really happen in organizations? Are companies prepared for this new scenario?
I am fully convinced that this is the case. We see that technology is an indicator of social and cultural change, and that the Internet is a clear reflection of this change.
Just thinking about the so-called blockchain, the technology that allows the transfer of digital data with a very sophisticated and secure encoder, makes us believe that, for example, in a short space of time, our electronic devices will be able to communicate, our refrigerator will be able to detect which products have run out, or which have passed their expiration date, allowing us to purchase them online.
