Session on Transversal Competencies Empowerment Employability – Red Cross Spain

Post by jrine »

We live a fast-paced life, light on content and container. We have more information at our fingertips than ever before, but we are possibly more misinformed than ever.

Hotels are opening where “robots” act as receptionists; we see how social networks are more commercial than social, excuse the redundancy. We are alarmed by a “no like” , a WhatsApp message that is not answered but read. We care about things that are not really important…

Our young people do not tolerate uncertainty ; they are accustomed to a level of “promptness” , of “click” , of immediacy, in short, which makes them not aware of how to deal with a “no” as an answer. They do not tolerate failure, they are not prepared for it.

The labour market has also undergone many changes, but the worst thing is that they have happened in record time. We have seen how technology is here to stay. We have “lived” the most important revolution in decades with the arrival of the famous “smartphones” .

But within this whole “dish” , made iran telegram mobile phone number list with some haste and without slow cooking, as was done in the past, there is a common denominator as an ingredient that we cannot stop working on: “people” .

In order to be able to apply for a better job , or even to create one, people also have to be constantly changing. If the market changes, we should change at the same time. We need to “learn to unlearn” , to work more on transversal competences , social skills, since it is something that a machine or a hotel robot will hardly replace (for the moment).

During the month of June, I will be giving a series of workshops under the title “Transversal Competencies for Empowerment and the Improvement of Employability”. Organised by the Spanish Red Cross at its headquarters in Granada , Incorpora La Caixa and the Employment Plan , I can tell you in advance that we will spend 30 exciting hours. We will take a productive, and why not, fun, journey in which we will enhance the skills that we all have inside but that it is time to bring out. We must make our potential visible if we want to continue in “the game” . And I say game because life is a continuous “roller coaster” , with ups, downs… but I am more worried about the endless straights. Those valley strips in which most people remain “relaxed” because they do not see the end.

I will try to make sure they don't fall asleep on the straights, that they enjoy the scenery on the climbs and that the descents are not accompanied by falls. See you soon.
