As an organization, you have decided that a social intranet should be introduced, but what happens next? How do you change a way of working? According to Marcel, if you want to bring about change, you tend to adopt a kind of balloonist position. You sit in the chair of others and think about what should work for them. But it is precisely that position that stands in the way of change!
The origin of elephant paths
People interact a lot with each other. If you see someone else doing something (for example, cutting off a piece of a path ), you tend to do it too (hey, that's an easier path!). In short, you can think up in advance (centrally) how a social intranet should be used, but it only really takes on meaning locally. And maybe applications are invented that you had not anticipated at all!
A good example from practice is that an intranet for a large consultancy firm also became the platform where consultants collaborated with their clients on assignments within a year. Now the ratio between consultants and clients on that intranet is 1:4.
