Portrait of a Lady on Fire tells the story of Portrait of a Lady on Fire Marianne's story follows a young woman, Noémie Merante, who is commissioned to paint a wedding portrait of her reluctant bride-to-be, Héloïse Adele Haeneléïè. Portrait directed by Céline Sciammaé won the Cannes Queer Palm, becoming the first film directed by a woman to win this honor.

This romantic comedy stars Dr. Wilhelmina Pon-Michel Crusik, a successful but closeted surgeon. Will's mother, Chen Chongzhi, tries to arrange for her to date men while also dealing with her own dissatisfaction with the pregnancy out of wedlock.
