For several years, the footwear industry has been moving towards more environmentally friendly production.
Adidas and new shoe maker Allbirds are the most active in this direction. The companies are even jointly developing low-carbon shoes.
Recently, Everlane and Nike have also joined in producing more environmentally friendly shoes.
The reason for this trend lies in the popularity of sneakers, especially in the US, where they are often considered a status symbol.
According to Adidas board member and CEO Eric Liedtke, creating more environmentally friendly shoes is a logical start, given the difficulties of the production process.
"Shoe production is the most difficult task," he said. "And it needs to be done first to establish an advantage. Or to set a certain standard that will be extended to all products."
