And I think I learned it from my father, because my father was always like that. I remember, since I was little, we have fun like Céline has fun seeing me talk to strangers, my father, it's the same thing. Everyone talks to him. He can be anywhere, everyone talks to him. I saw him abroad, where he didn't speak the language... so he has a few words of English in his vocabulary, but it's very light... he was talking to a Bulgarian person, an elderly person from Bulgaria who was talking to him, they were both in conversation in the depths of a foreign country, because he is always nice, always smiling.
At first I thought it was funny, I thought, "Dad, he's always talking to everyone," but he's right, he really is right.
So even though I'm an introvert, it's not very difficult for me to do it, because I like to communicate, I like to learn about others. I already do it a lot in the context of Authentic French. I have the chance to talk with the members of the academy, in our Zoom room for example. I met a lot of people in the context of Authentic French. So it helps me to be open to others in life in general.
Sometimes I think that talking to someone, giving advice or helping someone, well that will be their only good moment of the day. Some people don't have much, some people qatar whatsapp number data are alone. And if you talk to them, you give them a smile, you give them a little advice, you help them, well that person, you're going to brighten their day in fact. So having compassion, having empathy, that is to say understanding the feelings of others, being supportive, is a key to being a better person.
As a father, it's also obviously a great example for my children. I want them to be even more empathetic than me. Saying it is good. I can tell them: "You have to help others, you have to be kind, you have to be polite", but ultimately there is nothing better than setting an example. Children look at us more than they listen to us. So if we want to give them a good example, well, we simply have to do it.
So having this positive attitude and making it a habit is really great for others, for those we impact, for our family, for those we educate, our children, but also for those we help on the street and in all other possible places. But it's also very good for us, because having good social relationships is in our DNA.
We have this need to survive, we have… without being an expert on the subject, but I have read a few books, because I find it fascinating, there is a happiness hormone called “oxytocin”, which is secreted when we are part of a group and we feel good within a group. So it literally makes us happy. It’s scientific. It makes us happy to be with others, to be recognized in a group and to help others. So it’s important, even for an introvert like me. Try to do it gradually and you’ll tell me what you think.
