The green agenda on the Brazilian political agenda

Post by monira444 »

In the Brazilian political context, tackling climate crises has gained prominence with the statement made by the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira. In a statement made in September of this year, Lira reiterated that the energy transition and an economy focused on sustainability would be priorities highlighted by parliamentarians this semester.

The so-called energy transition, outlined by Lira, signals a substantial change in energy generation and consumption patterns. The movement away from non-renewable and more polluting sources , such as oil and coal, towards renewable sources, such as solar, wind and biomass energy, represents a significant commitment to environmental sustainability. This approach indicates the search for a cleaner energy matrix that is aligned with the principles of environmental preservation.

Recently, some projects that are part of the green agenda in cyprus mobile database Congress have gained prominence by entering the parliamentarians' agenda, such as the regulation of the Carbon Market in Brazil (PL 412/2022) ; the Regulatory Framework for Offshore Wind Power (PL 576/2021) ; the regulation of the production of green hydrogen (PL 2308/2023) ; and bill 4516/2023, known as “Fuel of the Future” .

The articulation of sustainable policies not only reflects a paradigm shift in Brazil, but also highlights the importance of politics as an agent of transformation. In this context, the combination of efforts at the international level, represented by active participation in COP28, and attention to national agendas , highlight the decisive role of politics in building a more balanced and resilient future.

The success of these initiatives will depend not only on agreements and established goals, but on the continuous capacity for implementation and monitoring, reflecting the real influence of politics in tackling climate crises.
