You read that right. In addition to the now well-known popularity of TikTok, Pinterest is also one of the striking platforms when we look at the number of users. Many users even visit this platform daily. Did you expect that? This and more came from the social media research for 2021.

largest trend survey into the use of social media in the Netherlands, conducted by Newcom Research. This year, this survey was conducted for the 11th time, with no less than 7,021 participants aged 15 and over.

In this article I will list the most striking results from this social media research. The nice thing is that this year again there are a few unexpected results.

More intensive social media use
On average, we use social media more intensively, just like last year. As you can see in the graph below phone number list it is mainly the young people (15 to 19 years old) who pull this average up. To be precise, this group is online on social media channels for fifteen minutes longer per day than last year.

In addition to the increase among this group of young people, use also increases slightly among 40 to 64 year olds. Use decreases among the rest of the age groups. Although this decrease is not significant.

More different channels
In addition to the fact that we are on social media channels longer on average, we also use (on average) more different social media channels. Interesting! Especially in the youngest group of the social media research (15 to 19 years) and the age group after that (20 to 39 years) the number of platforms they use increased.

The national average is 3.9 platforms per person, but the 15 to 39 age group uses an average of 5 different platforms.
