Ok. First of all: what are we talking about? A header on LinkedIn? Yes, that little line under your name. Most people – quite rightly – put their function there. What they do. Lately I have seen quite a few posts about this header in my timeline. What is good? And what is not? And in the slipstream of that: what do you call yourself? What kind of job title do you give yourself as an independent entrepreneur?
Let's solve the mystery using a set of concrete headlines: what doesn't work? And what does work. I'm focusing job function email database on the profiles of independent entrepreneurs here, but job seekers can certainly pick up a few things.
This is important because you want to stand out. You want to be remembered as an entrepreneur. There are about 625 experts besides you who do exactly what you do. Or is it 2500? It's tiring.
So when people are scrolling, you want them to think, whoa, wait, stop, this is interesting! And ideally, they'll want to link to you, and then a little while later they'll bring you their money. 'Here you go. My money. Help me!'
Okay, here we go. I'll start with four don'ts.
1. The incomprehensible English headline
Here you have a lot of them: Senior Online Consultant at Whepper . I made up the Whepper myself, I'm talking about 'Senior Online Consultant'.
