After setting "Who can see my phone number?" to "Nobody," a new option will appear: "Who can find me by my number?"
You will have two choices:
Everybody: Anyone who searches for your phone number on Telegram can find your profile.
My Contacts: Only users who have your phone number saved in their device's contacts will be able to find your Telegram profile by searching for your number.
For maximum privacy, select "My Contacts". While telegram number database "Nobody" isn't an explicit option here, selecting "My Contacts" coupled with not syncing your contacts (see point 6) effectively prevents most unwanted discovery.
6. (Optional but Recommended) Set a Username:
While not directly a phone number privacy setting, a username allows people to find and contact you without knowing your phone number.
Go back to Settings.
Tap or click on "Username".
Choose a unique username (e.g., @YourNameHere).
Share this username instead of your phone number when you want people to contact you on Telegram.
7. (Optional but Recommended) Manage Synced Contacts:
If you previously allowed Telegram to sync your contacts, you can also manage this:
Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Contacts.
You can also tap "Delete Synced Contacts" to remove any contact data Telegram may have stored from your device.
