Teague had an emotional moment when her mother was taken off life support - and then she asked the very real question of how long it would take for a person to actually die once taken off life support. She started to sit a little awkwardly. It was just a very real moment. Mississippi State is filled with moments like this—raw tender fun and darkness all at the same time. It's not quite like the other alternative comedies on this list but it definitely does something unique.

But the show also explores what sexual assault means for families and beyond. In addition, the star's real-life wife Q plays the lover of an elderly queer person and an Emmy Award winner.
Outlook – Outlook is by no means groundbreaking as far as queer programming goes. For the most part it describes cisgender gay white people living in San Francisco but there are a few exceptions. While this is certainly a narrow view of the queer community there’s no denying that this is a well-made show with a mostly queer cast. Jonathan Groff Minderhunt plays our lovelorn protagonist Patrick, a techie and nerd. Murray Bartlett White Lotus stars as Dom, the older gay man in the band who dreams of opening a restaurant and is Frankie Alvarez's narration in Justin Torres's Among Us.
