Secondly, everyone talks about the unique Internet ecosystem in China. They say that the Chinese firewall is successful not because it is difficult to bypass, but because the average Chinese does not even need to go anywhere outside of China. All the necessary services are already inside - communication, shopping, payments, social networks - all this is provided by local giants WeChat, Weibo, Taobao, Alibaba and many others. And here is a personal example: my brother has worked in the Celestial Empire for the last three years. He did not experience any restrictions or hardships of life. He still googled, watched YouTube, wrote to me in messengers. VPN is our everything, even in China. Few people notice the Great Firewall - China's economy is developing, business is not collapsing, business ties are growing. And it turns out that the state there stimulates the development of national services and hinders the work of foreign tech giants, well understanding the value and power of modern digital communications and systems. But in Russia, everything is quite similar, just not so tough, with our own specifics. There are national digital champions and persistently soft coercion of global giants to localize services.
That is, returning to the question of what will happen if estonia mobile database segment of the Internet in Russia is disconnected, the answer is simple - today, few people will notice.
Is it so bad that the state is trying to protect its national interests and develop promising technology segments of the market inside? Perhaps I will express an unpopular point of view, but I believe that national interests and, most importantly, the market really need to be addressed. As an example, I would like to cite a story that is somewhat removed from information technology, but so vivid and clear that it will be easy to draw parallels. And, by the way, it is again connected with China.
Have you been to Baikal lately? Go there. You will be surprised by the number of Chinese tourists. Moreover, all these organized groups move around the region without local guides. How does this happen? I recently talked to a person who knows the problem from the inside. It turned out that everything is very simple. The first large group of Chinese tourists comes to you and visits all possible attractions and routes. They walk, ask questions in Russian, are interested in absolutely everything. But the next tourist groups coming to the region do without you, working with Chinese guides. As you probably guessed, they were in that very first tourist group.
