The Problem of Unstructured Data

Post by rakhirhif8963 »

But there’s another question that’s troubling IT teams: How much data is at risk? That’s because the use of SaaS apps like Facebook, Zoom, or DropBox is spiraling out of control as employees work from home, away from the eyes of IT. According to Rewind, the average enterprise uses three to four times more SaaS apps than IT is aware of, and BetterCloud predicts that 90% of enterprises will rely on them to run business operations by 2022. This lack of visibility, coupled with a lack of visibility into which employees have access to apps and their sensitive data, points to gaping holes in companies’ security postures.

While SaaS applications store large amounts of structured and argentina whatsapp data data, it is the latter that poses the biggest challenges for companies — think selfies, video and audio files, and even email files. The lack of proper identity policies that can regulate employee access to these SaaS applications and their data is one of the major cybersecurity risks for organizations, with unstructured data being the primary driver of security compromises.

To better understand the risk companies face with their SaaS applications and data, as well as the state of unstructured data and related security practices, SailPoint recently conducted a study with Dimensional Research that showed just how challenging it is to secure and control data. We found that 92% of companies are moving their unstructured data to the cloud. However, 76% of companies have faced challenges protecting it, including unauthorized access, data loss, compliance fines, and more.
