Various factors can cause buyers to regret their software choice: a mismatch between what was promised and what the software delivered, a negative experience with the provider that made cooperation difficult, or a misjudgment by the company of which functions are needed to represent the company processes in the software.

Almost six out of ten buyers (58%) regret a software purchase in the last 12-18 months. Almost half of these buyers (27%) even regret multiple purchases, 31% regret one software purchase.

Bad purchases are particularly painful for smaller companies. For companies with 20-49 employees, the figure is 68%.
