Google My Business sees huge growth
Google is adding features to GMB at a rapid pace. They see the revenue potential in local, and now that they’ve properly divorced Google My Business from Google+, they have a clear runway for local growth (and monetization). Here are just a few of the key GMB features that have been released since the publication of the 2017 Local Search Ranking Factors:
Videos in Google Posts
These features are driving changes in the importance of the factors that drive local search today. This year has seen the most explosive growth in GMB-specific factors in the history of the survey. GMB signals now make up 25% of the local pack/finder pie chart.
GMB-specific features like Google Posts, Google Q&A, usa number data image/video uploads are often mentioned in the comments as ranking drivers. Many businesses are not yet investing in these aspects of local search, so these features are currently a competitive advantage. You should go for them before everyone else does.
Here is your to-do list:
Start using Google Posts now. but preferably a few times a week. Are you already pushing posts to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter? Just use the same, lightly edited content on Google Posts. Also, use calls to action in your posts to drive direct conversions .
Check out Google Q&A with your questions and answers. They feed highly relevant, semantically rich content to Google. Relevant FTW.
Upload photos and videos regularly. ( Did you know you can now upload videos to GMB? )
Make sure your profile is 100% complete. If there are any blank fields in GMB, fill them in. If you haven’t logged into your GMB account in a while, you might be surprised to see all the new data points you can add to your listing.
At least once a week,
