Enable Two-Step Verification (2FA):

Post by Mitu100@ »

Go to Contacts > People Nearby (or Settings > People Nearby).
Tap "Stop Showing Me" (or ensure it's not enabled). This feature uses your location to show nearby Telegram users, which can compromise your anonymity.
Control Forwarded Messages:

Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Forwarded Messages.
Set "Who can link to my account when forwarding telegram number database my messages?" to "Nobody". This prevents others from linking your original account when they forward your messages, especially important in public groups/channels.
Part 3: Ongoing Anonymity and Security Practices

Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Two-Step Verification.
Set a strong, unique password for your 2FA.
Crucially, set a recovery email. If you used an anonymous number, link it to a secure, anonymous email service (e.g., ProtonMail, Tutanota) that doesn't reveal your identity. This is vital for account recovery if you lose access to your anonymous number.
Manage Active Sessions:

Go to Settings > Devices (or Settings > Privacy and Security > Active Sessions).
Regularly review all active logins. Terminate any unfamiliar or suspicious sessions.
Use Secret Chats for Sensitive Conversations:

For truly private, end-to-end encrypted communication that Telegram cannot access, always use Secret Chats. These are device-specific and do not sync to the cloud. You can also set self-destruct timers for messages.
Use a VPN or Proxy:

While Telegram encrypts your communication, a VPN (Virtual Private Network) or proxy server can hide your IP address from your internet service provider (ISP) and potentially from Telegram's servers themselves, adding another layer of anonymity to your connection.
Be Mindful of Content Shared:

Avoid sharing any personally identifiable information (PII) within chats or public channels, even if your account is anonymous.
Do not upload photos that reveal your location, face, or unique surroundings.
Anonymous Group Admins:

If you manage a group or channel, you can choose to "Remain Anonymous" when posting as an admin. This makes your posts appear under the channel's name, not your personal account.
By diligently following these steps, you can significantly enhance your anonymity on Telegram and use the platform with a much greater degree of privacy, even though a number is technically required for initial registration.Understanding Telegram Login with Phone Number
